1.The Difference Between 60% And 65% Keyboard

The 65% keyboard and the 60% keyboard are very similar, with the main difference being that the 65% keyboard typically includes Arrow Keys and some function keys like Home, Page Up, Page Down and more.

A typical 65% keyboard might have dimensions in the range of 11 to 12 inches in width and 4 to 5 inches in depth.

Compared to a 40% Keyboard, they also include number keys, which can be convenient for tasks that require numerical input (such as some input methods, game player), as you don't need to switch to another layer to input numbers.

2.Product Standardization

Unlike 40% Keyboard, which are more specialized for player, the 65% keyboards and 60% keyboards are already quite standardized products. Many manufacturers like Royal Kludge, Keychron , NIZ have product lines for both 65% and 60% keyboards.

3.Gaming Experience of 65% and 60% Keyboard

Some people prefer using a 60% keyboard for gaming because in most cases, it's sufficient. If you need arrow keys, a 65% keyboard would be more suitable.

FPS gamers benefit more from this keyboard layout as it has all the necessary keys for most FPS games. FPS games primarily use alphanumeric keys like W, A, S, D, along with other keys for tool and weapon switching. The use of keys other than alphanumeric is quite rare in FPS games, so a 60% keyboard is sufficient. Using a 60% layout in games like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and PUBG allows you to utilize more desktop space, giving you the freedom to comfortably move your mouse.

In MOBA games, on the other hand, you typically use around 10 keys on average, most of which are alphanumeric combinations like WASD, QWER, DF, as well as Alt and Ctrl keys. However, in games like DOTA, the default key bindings may not be enough because some keys are allocated to the keys in the number area. Therefore, if you insist on using a 60% layout keyboard, you'll need to remap the keys.

For MMORPGs and more complex RPGs like World of Warcraft, The Witcher 3, and Divinity: Original Sin 2, using a 60% keyboard can be a bit inconvenient because of the large number of skills bound to the keyboard, requiring many keys to play. The lack of function keys may cause some inconvenience.

In general, 60% and 65% keyboards are quite suitable for daily work and gaming. They have most of the necessary keys while maintaining a relatively small form factor, providing more desktop space and better portability.
